FAQs for Roofers
How much weight can your cranes lift for roofing materials?
Our crane fleet ranges from 20-ton to 60-ton capacity, which easily handles typical roofing loads. A standard pallet of shingles weighs around 2,000-3,000 pounds, well within our lifting capacity. For HVAC units, our cranes can safely lift RTUs weighing up to 10,000+ pounds depending on the crane selected. During our consultation, we’ll assess your specific material weights and recommend the appropriate crane for your project.
Do you provide operators, or can I use my own?
For safety and efficiency, we provide Union Local 150 certified operators with all our crane rentals. Our operators have 25+ years of experience and are trained specifically for the demands of construction and roofing projects. If you have a qualified operator, we can discuss rental options based on your project’s specific needs.
What information do you need for a roofing crane quote?
To provide an accurate quote, we need: the building height and number of stories, approximate weight of materials or equipment to be lifted, job site address (for site access assessment), your project timeline and estimated rental duration, and any special requirements like tight access or nearby obstacles. The more details you provide, the more accurate and competitive your quote will be.
How far in advance should I book for a roofing project?
We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance for most roofing projects, especially during peak construction season (spring through fall). However, we understand roofing work often depends on weather, and we do our best to accommodate short-notice rentals when equipment is available. For large commercial projects or jobs requiring special permits, earlier booking is preferred.
What happens if weather delays my project?
We understand that roofing is weather-dependent. We offer flexible rescheduling to accommodate weather delays with minimal notice. Simply contact us as soon as you know the weather will impact your timeline, and we’ll work to adjust your crane rental schedule. We want to be your reliable partner, not add stress to already challenging weather situations.
Are there weight restrictions for bundled shingles?
Our cranes can handle standard roofing material loads without issue. A typical bundle of shingles weighs 50-80 pounds, and pallets usually contain 42-56 bundles (approximately 2,100-4,500 pounds per pallet). Our smallest 20-ton crane can lift multiple pallets at once. We can also lift larger loads like membrane rolls, insulation boards, and roofing panels. During planning, we’ll confirm the exact weights and configure the lift for maximum efficiency.
